I am a Pocatello photographer and I live in such a beautiful area. I was so excited when Ashtyn messaged me about shooting her wedding! You may recognize her since I still share images from her senior session. She gave me the freedom to pick someplace pretty for her session and I was so excited to shoot her Pocatello engagements photographer at Gibson Jack!

Not that I am ever happy about wildfires, but all the smoke changes your possibilities with locations. Because of the smoke, we were able to start shooting an hour earlier than typical in that location! I love the mood of these images. You can’t recreate this look in photoshop. Having that smoke makes these images so creamy and rich!

The only sad part about it is that the deep valley views of this location are lost due to the smoke. So, after our pictures here we went over to Edson Fichter. That’s when the session started getting dramatic!

You see first I sat them down in the grass. Nothing abnormal. I noticed a big daddy long-leg spider on Ashtyn. Then another, and Rhett grabbed another… I sat them in a freaking spider nest!

I was able to shoot at a couple of locations I’m normally limited to because of the smoke and it was really fun for me!

Then I asked them to lay down on this bridge. Turns our under them was a hornet’s nest!!! Poor Ashtyn got a bit multiple times. I was more upset and mortified than she was! She is a tough one.

Then we went to the water. Once I got them situated I asked Rhett to take his shows off and he popped them off his feet…. into the river. Ha! Soon I was watching one of his shoes floating down towards me. I couldn’t jump in to get it because of my gear. Ashtyn jumps up, runs across SHARP rocks, falls a couple of times, but gets his shoe. Rhett decided to try and help but after a couple of steps on the rocks, he realized how hardcore his fiancée is!

So, was this Pocatello engagement session dramatic and semi traumatizing for me? Yep! Was the couple absolutely amazing? Undeniably! Did the photos turn out? Well, you tell me!

Can’t wait for their bridal session and wedding! May 1st, 2021 is going to be AMAZING!
