It can be hard juggling social life, work, and education, so here are 5 tips on how to write college notes that will help you study more efficiently.

1. Organize
   • Divide your notes by class or in a way that you can find the information quicker. Sticky notes and dividers work great for notetaking.
   • Label your information. You can do this by lesson or by chapter. This helps you bookmark what you learned and find them with ease.
2. Summarize
   • Make titles, bullet points, and numbered lists. This will help you read your notes easier and understand the lesson quicker.  
   • Summarize the main point of a lesson. This will help you prepare for a test as you will understand an overall lesson.
3. Q&A
   • Take notes in form of questions and answers. This will help you anticipate questions professors will ask you on tests and increase your learning overall.
   • Mark information that you have questions on. This will help know what you need to study more or need to get help on.
4. Emphasize
   • Highlight important information that professors repeat throughout a lesson or hint will be on the test. Putting a star or highlighting these facts will help you to remember to focus on them as you study.
   • Put a marker to remember upcoming assignments or tests. This will help you remember to do your homework and know what’s coming up.
5. Study
   • Make time to study. Make a study schedule or an alert for test days before it happens so that you read your notes.
   • Study often and in the way that helps you best. You might study better in groups or alone. Find what works best for you and stick to it.

Also, remember that every class is different and that you need to adapt how you take notes to match what works best for that class. Bullet points and summaries may work well for one class, but another class may need you to jot down detailed notes with titles and headings.
