Being a Jackson Hole photographer, I get a lot of questions about wedding travel in Jackson Hole. Everything is spread out, so it’s important to know where you want to go. We are here to help you understand your options. Wedding travel in Jackson Hole doesn’t have to be complicated. We will touch on why you need to plan, the airport, car, bus, and other obstacles you need to be aware of.
Jackson Hole is popular with locals, families, weddings, and outdoor enthusiasts. Some months are busier than others. It’s important for you to decide if you will be staying around the resort and town square or if you will be going into Grand Teton National Park. Once this is decided, you will know if you need a car or not for your wedding travel in Jackson Hole.
The Jackson Hole Airport is between Jackson Hole and Grand Teton. It is served by major airlines. The airport is a convenient option, especially if you don’t want to drive. I highly suggest flying into Jackson Hole Airport. Especially if it is the winter or fall season. The Teton Pass is the most common route of travel for those flying into Salt Lake City. However, this pass can have brutal weather and road conditions.
While there are shuttle services and taxis available in Jackson, having a car will give you more flexibility to explore the area and get around on your own schedule. Grand Teton is a minimum of 30 minutes from Jackson Hole. So if you want to get into the park, you will need a car.
Jackson Hole can be chilly, even in the summer months. Be sure to pack appropriate clothing for the season. Layers are always a good idea, as the temperature can vary greatly throughout the day. Even in the summer, a jacket is a good idea. You never know when the weather will shift.
Jackson Hole is known for its beautiful natural scenery. There are also multiple outdoor activities. Take advantage of the opportunity to go hiking, horseback riding, biking, or white-water rafting while you’re there. If you don’t bring a bike or gear, you can rent most anything in town.
The bus is perfect for groups that want to stay together on their wedding day or during the festivities of the week. Stocked with your favorite treats and drinks, the driver will take you to all of your destinations while jamming out to your favorite tunes!
The town of Jackson has plenty of shops, restaurants, and galleries to explore. Be sure to check out the famous antler arches in the town square and take a stroll down the boardwalks. The town also changes at night, with beautiful lights and nightlife.
Jackson Hole is home to a variety of wildlife, including moose, elk, antelope, and bears. Be sure to keep a safe distance and follow any posted guidelines for interacting with wildlife. It’s also recommended to carry bear spray on you while in the park.
Overall, Jackson Hole is a beautiful destination for a wedding, but travel plans are necessary. With a little planning, you can make the most of your trip and enjoy all that the area has to offer.
