Timing

Most of the time permits given for this location is in the morning or afternoon. However, the best time for photos at Colter Bay is during the golden hour, which is the hour just after sunrise or just before sunset. The soft, warm light during these times will add a beautiful glow to your photos. Nevertheless, we will get beautiful photos any time of the day! In full sun the water sparkles!

Location

There are several great locations at Colter Bay for photos, including the swim beach bay area. Explore the area and find the spot that speaks to you the most. You can also find tall pines. If you wanted to have a picnic there are picnic areas provided. There are indoor bathrooms near the entrance of Colter Bay, and there are some smaller outdoor bathrooms outside near the beach.

Attire

Dress comfortably and wear something that makes you feel confident and beautiful. Keep in mind the weather conditions, as it can be quite chilly in the early morning and late evening. Shoes is the most important thing to take into consideration. Down near the water’s edge is really rocky. There is a more accessible green area, but maybe bring a change of shoes if you want to explore the area.
