If you’re thinking about having an elopement ceremony at Grand Teton National Park‘s Schwabacher Landing, it’s important to note that a permit is required for any type of wedding or ceremony in the park. This includes elopements no matter the size. So make sure you apply for a permit as soon as you possibly can. It is the first location to sell out every single year. 

Applying for Schwabacher’s Landing

To apply for a permit, you’ll need to contact the park’s Special Use Permit Coordinator and provide details about your ceremony, including the desired date, time, and location. We suggest 8-10am,  2-3pm, or an hour before sunset. They can also provide you with information on any additional requirements or restrictions for your event. Keep in mind there are no alters, chairs, or decorations allowed. 

Schwabacher Landing is a popular location for wedding ceremonies and elopements due to its stunning views of the Teton Mountains and the Snake River. From both sections you can get an amazing view of “The Grand”. Out of all the locations in and outside of the park, this is the location where we see moose the most!

Also, keep in mind that eloping typically means having a small, intimate ceremony with few or no guests. There is a limit on how many people can be there ( including you and any vendors), and permits are given on a first come first serve basis.
