A highlight of being a Jackson Hole Photographer is shooting at the Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis club. I don’t even know where to start with this blog besides the fact it is one that it will always be a highlight. First off, I instantly connected with Molly and Shane, and while chatting on the phone it became apparent that they really cared about the experience that everyone would have at their wedding. It wasn’t just about them. They really put in a lot of effort to make sure everyone enjoyed themselves! I’ll show you what I mean throughout the blog.
“Volleyball introduced us, trivia nights brought us together, and traveling showed us we were compatible. We met while coaching volleyball and we’re quickly the “relationship dream” of our players— they gave us the couple name “Sholly” and it has been how everyone refers to us ever since. We have made traveling a priority since we met and have visited 39 national parks, 16 NC state parks, 45 states, and have driven over 35,000 miles together. Shane’s love of adventure and Molly’s desire to see new places have led us on some wonderful trips. When Shane proposed in Hawaii in June 2018, we began planning for an amazing wedding in Inverness, Scotland. A global pandemic caused us to postpone then eventually change our location to the prettiest place in the United States— Grand Teton National Park! 731 days later— we were married!”
They planned our first cross country road trip from the summer of 2018. They drove from North Carolina to California and hopped on a flight to Hawaii! Shane didn’t wait long before proposing at sunset on their own little beach. It was perfect. Molly had no idea it was coming! Molly had Shane set up his phone on video in a tree so they could capture a picture of them looking out at the water and this worked out perfectly for what Shane had already planned. Right before the sun disappeared into the ocean, he looked at Molly and asked her to marry him. Taken completely by surprise, Molly broke into laughter and said YES!
Sean came along with me to help me shoot the wedding. I dropped him off at Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis to start documenting the guys getting ready and I went to Inn On the Creek to document the gals!
When I walked in to meet Molly they were watching the classic movie, Father of the Bride, and talking about the random dramas of the day. Like, the fact that Molly’s dad got in a car accident that morning, losing the vows, and other random things! It didn’t damper the vibe though. Everyone was just so excited for Molly and Shane to seal the deal!
Molly wanted to reveal the dress to her dad and to her brother and it was the sweetest! Look at her dad, LOOK AT HIM!
Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis is a beautiful wedding venue in Jackson Hole, WY. You get a majestic view of the Tetons as your backdrop, and a HUGE tent for your festivities or in case of rain!
The clouds came in and gave us the perfect lighting! It was a small and intimate wedding full of family and friends. Everyone made sure to watch Shane as Molly appeared. His emotion made everyone else emotional. They met each other with smiles and laughs, and that continued the whole ceremony. One of my favorite moments is when they had family members from both sides give advice about the family they are marring into. The advice was full of inside jokes, traditions, and well wishes. It really brought tears to my eyes. I shoot a lot of weddings, and it was evident that everyone there wanted nothing but the best for Molly and Shane!
Molly and Shane wanted a picture of the first kiss from the front and back! It’s so neat to compare both of them!
Never, ever, in my 10 years of being a wedding photographer have I ever had my name or placard on a table. How considerate, right? But that’s not it. Molly, Shane, and their friends/family made sure to let us and other vendors know that they wanted us to eat, drink, and dance!
Molly also had these adorable and personalized bags for all the kids at the kids table.
The speeches were AMAZING at the wedding. I can’t tell out how many photos we had of everyone laughing their hardest! Molly’s MOH gave a glimpse of their amazing friendship. They have been friends since they were little girls and practically lived at each others houses.
Shanes siblings didn’t hold back the punches when it came to telling all the embarrassing stories! My favorite was them presenting Molly with a certificate! Check it out below.
Molly’s brother gave some advice that really hit my heart. He said,”Life is hard and a marriage takes work. Never underestimate just how much work. If you are thinking, “ We are fine now so we should be good…” Sorry, wrong. You will have to work for the rest of your days to continue to keep the love that brought you together intact. ” Can I get an amen? He also said,”Do not let your partner in life ever be out on a limb by themselves. YOU TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER! Do not sell yourself or you partner short. Support each other even when it is hard but ESPECIALLY if you think they are WRONG. Why is this? Because your are no longer individuals, you are a TEAM! Be equality yoked in all that you do.”
Dad did NOT disappoint! He made us laugh SO hard. To tell you the truth I don’t remember much about what he said. I just remember thinking I needed to run to the bathroom before I peed my pants!
Then, they had the hitting of the piñata! I was told there were “fun” prizes. The rope may have broke, but that didn’t stop Molly from taking a cane to it exposing the prizes inside!
The rest of the night was full of dancing, singing, taking the golf cart out to get some pictures, yelling at golfers (they were not suppose to be there and yelled at us to move. Can you believe that? I was petty and kicked the ball back to them haha. No one talks to my bride like that!)
