Did you know, before I was a Jackson Hole wedding photographer I was an art teacher? Emma was one of my art students! I was so excited to reconnect, and I was honored she asked me to capture her minimalistic and earthy Idaho Falls wedding day. If I could sum up Emma and Josh in one word it would be “joyful”. Throughout our time together, I was simply smiling from ear to ear, they made my job easy!

I have to say Emma’s dress is one of our favorites! It’s so classy and elegant! Emma said,”My dress is somewhat custom made. I had something in particular for what I wanted for my dress to look like, but I could not find it. So My mom, sister, and I looked at Hart’s Tux and Gowns in Idaho Falls and found a dress where I liked the skirt part, but I wanted an entirely different bodice. After we had purchased the dress I called Becca Pack from Becca’s Sewing Creations and she created an entirely new bodice for what I wanted.” Her dress is nothing less than spectacular! It’s sessions like this I feel so lucky to be an Idaho Photographer!

Josh and Emma met September of 2016 at BYUI. Emma wasn’t too interested in him, but Josh was persistent!  Emma eventually gave him a chance and they started dating February of 2017!

Soon it was Christmas time and Josh went on vacation. Emma didn’t anticipate seeing him until after Christmas. So, she was super surprised when Josh showed up at her house Christmas with a gift! It was a tee shirt that said Mrs. Always Right, Emma was a little confused. Then he proceeded on to reveal that under his jacket he had a tee shirt that said Mr. Always Right. He then pulled off an ornament (that held the ring) from her family’s Christmas tree that he previously placed there, and asked her to marry him. ISN’T THAT THE CUTEST STORY EVER?!?!

“After the school semester, and the week before Christmas, Josh went with his family on vacation and wouldn’t be home until a day or two before Christmas–He also lives two hours away from where I do, so I didn’t think I’d see him until after the holiday. But on Christmas morning he showed up at my house and had a present for me, I opened it and had a tee shirt that said Mrs. Always Right, as I was a little confused he proceeded on to reveal that under his jacket he had a tee shirt that said Mr. Always Right. He then pulled off an ornament (that held the ring) from my family’s Christmas tree that he previously placed there and asked me to marry him.”

No wedding planning is without a little drama, right? After rescheduling their formal session a couple times they were down to the wire. The week before the day of bridals and the Minimalistic and Earthy Idaho Falls wedding the weather looked to be in the mid 70’s but the closer it got to those days the worse the weather forecast looked. The day of the bridals wasn’t looking great. It was cloudy and started to rain by the early evening, but we still went to Swan Valley. We really lucked out because it wasn’t raining, although the forecast said it would! As you can tell it set the stage for AMAZING colors and dreamy images!

Their minimalistic and earthy Idaho Falls wedding day had rain in the forecast. I was prepared for the worst weather. Yet, we were graced with amazing overcast! It turned out to be a beautiful spring day!
