As a Jackson Hole wedding photographer I get to travel all over the area documenting weddings and elopements. When eloping in Jackson Hole or Grand Teton National Park (GTNP) there are so many places to elope. I want to share with you one of my favorite locations that doesn’t get the attention it deserves. If you like crystal waters, mountain views, forested area, low traffic, and big boulders. You can’t ask for anything better than this Leigh Lake elopement, a Grand Teton National Park wedding are the best!

Getting to the Grand Teton National Park Wedding Site

Leigh Lake is located inside of GTNP, just north of Jenny Lake. Drive up the Teton Park Road and then turn at the North Jenny Lake Junction to access String and Leigh Lakes. It is the third largest lake in the park, and it’s one of the many lakes that people enjoy to kayak or paddle board. This spot is marked, but becomes a bit confusing when you get to the parking lot. Just park in the very back of the lot. Find the bathrooms, and there is a trail that goes right past them. Follow that trail and you will find yourself staring at the crystal sea colored water of Leigh Lake!

Forest Elopement

One of the reasons I love a Leigh Lake Elopement is that it’s one of the only areas that puts you instantly in a forest. Within a couple feet you’re going up some stairs into a thick, lush, and beautiful green forest! Within the shelter of these trees you will find so many textures, colors, trees, and boulders. Depending how far you choose to hike, you will even find yourself on a beach. Depending on where you are you will see (left to right) the middle Tetons, Teewinot Mountain, Rockchuck Peak, Mt. Woodring and/or Mt. Moran. Because of this it’s not as highly trafficked as other locations.

Why Leigh Lake?

So, if you want an area with a lot of diversity, views, and verity this is the perfect place to elope! Not to mention its close to so many other iconic locations. So, in my honest opinion, I think a Leigh Lake elopement and then taking more photos where you get full shots of The Grand, is the perfect combination.
