Grand Teton National Park is a beautiful and popular destination for elopements. Here are some tips for planning a last minute Grand Teton elopement or Grand Teton wedding.
A permit from the National Park Service is required for any type of wedding ceremony in Grand Teton National Park. The permit will give you a location and time that you can get married or elope in Grand Teton National Park. To do this contact the park’s Special Use Permit office to get started. While it’s not a permit, don’t forget about your marriage license from the state of Wyoming. You can set up an appointment with the clerk in Jackson Hole.
Keep in mind that if you are planning a last minute Grand Teton elopement, you need to apply for the permit at least 30 days before the day of the ceremony. As a general rule the sooner the better. The park tries to help accommodate you where they can. Feel free to give them a phone call if you have any questions.
Grand Teton has a variety of stunning locations to choose from, including the Teton Range, the Snake River, and lakes like Jenny Lake or Jackson Lake. For example, some locations have limits on the number of people that can be present at the Grand Teton elopement. So, it’s important to look at that while applying for a permit.
This is where hiring a local photographer comes in handy. Winters here are brutal, and as a result, some areas don’t thaw very fast. For example, you could have snow in May! We can help you find the perfect location for your vision and the time of year you are planning your Grand Teton elopement.
Grand Teton weather can be unpredictable. It is best to dress in layers and wear appropriate footwear for hiking or walking on uneven terrain. First, this could mean wearing thin layers under your dress, suit, and even boots! Secondly, you could bring a coat you wouldn’t mind wearing with your dress if you are eloping in spring, fall, or summer.
Think about transportation, lodging, and food for your elopement. Nevertheless, there are plenty of lodging and dining options in and around the park, but it’s important to plan ahead. This is especially true when it comes to travel time between locations and where other festivities may be held. The park is around 30 minutes from Jackson Hole’s town square.
Remember, that this day is about you and your partner. It’s a day to celebrate your love. Take in the beauty of Grand Teton National Park, and enjoy the experience of getting married in one of the most beautiful places in the world. In order to do this, we recommend at least 4 hours of coverage. This allows for things to not be rushed and for there to be ample time to travel to new and epic locations!
