I love the colors, the weather, how everything changes within a day and continually changes until the last leaf blows off the tree. Fall is without a doubt the most popular time of year for family photos. There is a joke about how October for photographers is what April is like for accountants!

One of my favorite things about photographing families is capturing all the unique personalities in the family. Each kiddo is different. I love being able to spend some one on one time and capture who they are as individuals at this moment and at this time. Part of the reason I think annual family photos are so important is that you get to see your children growing up each year.

Why Get Family Photos?

Don’t you just love old family pictures?

Dug out from dusty box or chest

I don’t think there is anything else

That can compare – they’re the absolute best

There is nothing like those black and whites

The photos from the past

Of course we know from history

That nothing ever lasts

Time moves on, of course it does

But pictures can live without end

They keep our families together

They are one thing that we can depend

Family pictures are such treasures

They take us back in time

They put us in the moment

And let the past unwind

As I go through several lifetimes

And look at my family’s history

I’m so thankful I have these photos

They help unravel many family mysteries!

Capturing the parent(s) is super important to me too. How many times do parents get photos of just themselves? Usually NEVER! Show up in family photos. These moments go by so fast and before you know it your kids will be all grown up. Take the time to document these moments. Take the time to document where you are in life as a family. Take the time to document memories long after your gone!
