National Park engagements and proposals have grown in popularity over the last few years. Everyone wants to be outdoors, and experience that beauty. All while proclaiming their love for one another in some of the most beautiful places on earth. National parks are full of adventure, beauty, and love. If you love national parks and are planning your engagement session there, here are a few things to know, before you go!
With more people visiting National parks, things can get a little tricky, like timing and scheduling. Being a Jackson Hole wedding photographer, we’re familiar with these regulations for Grand Teton National Park. But don’t be afraid to ask your photographer! Look online to confirm with National Park Services to see if there are any specific guidelines for your given park. More often than not, the permits aren’t expensive if needed, but sometimes aren’t even needed at all!
I cannot stress this one enough, find a photographer familiar with national park engagements! Being a wedding photographer in Jackson Hole, I’ve been to our local national park hundreds of times. So you bet, I know what I’m talking about. I’ve done all the research for permits, finding the best locations, and avoiding touristy spots. It’s so so important to have someone on your side who is familiar with the location, and who can help ensure you both have a great time!
Throughout your planning process, I’m sure you considered locations for your engagement sessions carefully. If you are considering national park engagements, surely you appreciate the beauty of that park. Our goal is to keep it that way! Throughout your time in the park be mindful of what you bring in, and avoid leaving trash behind, and don’t feed the animals! National parks are a place of beauty that we get to experience, let’s keep it beautiful together.
Lastly, when planning your national park engagements, avoid peak hours at the park. These peak hours are generally, weekends, holidays, and evenings. When planning your session, talk to your photographer about it! While planning your session we’ll be able to give you a few dates to choose from. Sometimes it’s unavoidable, but we’ll do our best.
While planning your national park engagements, remember these few tips and you’ll be sure to have a blast!
