As a Jackson Hole Photographer I leaped at the opportunity for this Bonneville Salt Flats bridals session. I usually do 2-4 weddings a year in Utah, but I have never shot at the Bonneville Salt Flats. I have heard about them a lot, but it was never a location my clients wanted. When Katie expressed that she wanted to do her bridal wedding photography at the Salt Flats I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to add something new to my portfolio.

Guess what, the Salt Flats are not where I thought they were. I thought they were just outside Salt Lake City by maybe 30 minutes. NOPE! They are located in the middle of nowhere on your way to Navada. On my way out there I was questioning if it would be worth it. I will say we got the best lighting and cloud coverage, but it was 110% worth it! As a Jackson Hole wedding photographer I loved the change of pace!

The Couple

Katie and Tyson are just the cutest. One thing they really wanted to capture was the fun relationship they have. When we started shooting it was apparent why they were so happy together. They just laughed the whole time. Tyson makes Katie laugh, and Katie makes Tyson laugh. I have no doubt that it will continue into their marriage. It was a reminder to me how important it is to find someone to laugh your way though life with. I will talk more about their relationship and story with their wedding blog. So, stay tuned for that!

Dreamy Bonneville Salt Flats Bridal Wedding Portraits

Can you believe this Sunset? It’s unbelievable we were able to catch it at this moment. Something no one told me that I want to share is that while these Bonneville Salt Flats are barren, the light reflects off the ground. It gave off the prettiest lighting that really brightened up areas that are usually shadowed like eyes. It also allowed me to shoot a good 30-40 minutes longer than I am typically able too.
