Grand Teton has multiple ceremony locations that are site-specific. These beautiful Grand Teton wedding locations require a permit, that will give you a specific time when you can get married. I wanted to cover these six locations, plus another location with amazing views that requires a permit. As a Grand Teton wedding photographer I’m here to make sure that you have the best information, so that when you apply for your permit you know exactly what you want. Some couples seem to overlook the fact that people have to pay to get into the park. So in these listings I will also let you know what locations you will need a pass for and those ones that you will not.
Schwabachers Landing gives you the most iconic view of the Tetons that leaves people in awe. This location at sunset can’t be beat! However, because of this, it is heavily trafficked and wildlife and landscape photographers set up to wait for the magic to happen. It has water, forest, and the views of 99% of everything that people come to Grand Teton National Park for. Keep in mind because of this popularity it is one of the first locations to sell out of permits.
So make sure to keep up-to-date on when you can apply for a permit and apply as soon as possible if this is the location that you want. If you don’t get this location don’t worry too much. While planning, you can still book the ceremony location with an incredible view and then take pictures here after the ceremony. You do not need a park pass to access this location. The majority of the images in this blog is from Schwabacher Landing.
The South location is one of the most popular with the big beautiful barn. Behind it are the stunning Tetons, and it really gives the Wild West feeling. This is a location that’s specifically awesome for a windy day, and is such a fun hike during winter! During the fall the trees around it have beautiful colored yellow leaves, and tall grasses that make for beautiful and unique images. You do not need a park pass to access this location.
The North location is known for the little pink house, with a barn in the back it can give you the best of both worlds. This location also offers amazing views of the Tetons. When it comes down to it, the biggest difference between the north and the south is the amount of people that you can have at the ceremony. You do not need a pass to the park to access this location.
There are not a lot of people interested in it and I don’t understand why. Every time I’ve gone by this location there have been beautiful flowers, amazing views, and low traffic. Located at one of the farthest points in the park. It is a little over an hour drive from Jackson Hole to this location. However it’s a great location to start and to work our way back into town hitting up all the other amazing locations. If you want a quiet location that doesn’t have a lot of traffic this one’s for you. You will need a park pass for this location.
This location is extremely accessible and has an amazing view of the Tetons. Getting married in Grand Teton National Park requires a pass for you to get into the park. However this is one of the turnouts where you don’t actually have to go inside of the park. So if you want to skip those fees, and have a beautiful location, this is a place for you. There are so many different angles and places where you can go. You can stay on a paved area and you can go on grass. There’s lots of beautiful sage brush to enhance that wild west feeling. If you’re looking for a simple and beautiful Grand Teton wedding location, this is it.
Ansel Adams and his iconic 1942 photograph of this area, really made it incredibly popular. It has the twisting snake river along with a beautiful view of the Tetons. There are many places here where you could hold the ceremony, but in front of the wall seems to be the most popular. This location also doesn’t require a pass to access it.
Colter Bay Swim Beach is a fantastic location, if water is an important factor to you, and you love the mountains. Something to keep in mind about this location is that it’s about an hour away from Jackson Hole. It is one of the furthest locations but like I said before with Mountain View Turn Out, it’s a great location to start at and then to hit up all the other locations on your way back to town for dinner or drinks. You will need a parks pass to access this location
Next, the wedding tree. It is such a unique area. There’s a lot that goes into this area but something that I want to bring up first is that it’s not a very accessible area. By no means is it a hike into the area, but it is a walk and it’s a rocky one. If you have grandparents or attendees that are not steady I wouldn’t advise this area. That being said, this area captures a valley with the Tetons in the middle it’s incredible. Although, the two trees used to grow together at the top making it look like two people becoming one. But due to lightning and inconsiderate people, they don’t look like that anymore, but it’s still beautiful and takes your breath away. You do not need a park pass to access this location.
The Wedding Tree – Scheduled though Friends of the Bridger-Teton website unlike the other 6 locations though Grand Teton national park. Nevertheless, you can schedule for that permit here.
