Have you ever wondered if there is anything a photographer wants from you before coming to a session, but never tells you? Well I’m here to let you in on that secret! Don’t worry, it’s nothing hard, and it doesn’t require too much of your time. It will help your session run much smoother than you ever thought was possible! You probably already do these 5 things, but have never put too much thought into them. Here is what to know before a session!
Yes, you need to sleep, but no, you don’t need to take a nap 15 minutes before! Get a good night’s rest before any photography session. It will definitely improve your mood, and of course your energy throughout the whole thing. It will also give you a brighter look! You’ll be well rested, and those dark circles under your eyes (if you even get those) will be less visible!
Of course you want to wear something you love, but keep it YOU. Sometimes, you want to put your best self out there. YOU SHOULD! But don’t make that a different person. Your style makes you who you are. There is no one else in the world who is exactly the same. Make sure the style reflects your personality.
With that being said, don’t wear something you aren’t comfortable in. Just because you own it, doesn’t mean you’re comfortable in it. Whatever you choose to wear, make it something you are comfortable in, and something that reflects YOU!
This is so important! Yes, being on time to anything is important, but this will help the photographer feel like they have plenty of time to give you what you deserve. Most (if not all) photographers won’t give you extra time. Their schedules are busy, and they need to get home to edit for you! Showing up late is going to make everyone feel rushed, pressured, and possibly uptight the whole session. You won’t get the photos you want and deserve if you are late!
Props do not mean theater backdrops and costumes!! A prop is anything you are going to have that is not YOU. If you love hats, wear a hat! If you play a sport, bring some equipment. Do you have a family dog? Bring him/her! This is something that will make our session special, fun, and when you get your photos back, you’ll love them!
First thing is first, bring yourself. Obviously, when you book a session, come to it! Like we said before, bring a prop! If you’re not comfortable with that, it’s totally okay. If you want to, it should be on your list of things to remember. You should also bring water, especially if it is hot outside! If it’s cold, dress for the weather, bring a warm drink, or at least choose an appropriate outfit.
You should also bring someone with you! Someone you are comfortable with, and will make this a memory, not just another thing on your to-do list.
I hope this helps all of you feel more comfortable and know what to do before a session! If this got you excited to have a photo session, book one! loveandstorystudio.com
